Detailed Game Information
Branches, Twigs, and Thorns (Jump Right In!)
An AI opponent is available for this game!
Branches and Twigs and Thorns (or "Barsoomite Go") is an elegant little strategy game for two or four players that uses Icehouse pieces. It is a turn-based game, unlike Icehouse or IceTowers; and there is no luck involved. Like Martain Go, it uses a chessboard, a set of Icehouse pieces for each player, and a collection of tokens (at least ten per player). Players seek to build chains of pieces of their own color and to force their opponents to branch off from opposing pieces of their opponent's colors, which results in a penalty determined by the sizes of the pieces involved.

A neat little "go lite" blokus/cathedral kind of game with Icehouse pyramids. It has become a sentimental favorite even though the start player seems to have a nontrivial advantage in the 2-player version.

Surprising depth from such seemingly straightforward rules.

Not worth playing with just 2 players, but fun with 4.

2 player just isn't very fun anymore. Multi-player is good.

Simple area-control game... not sure how well it will hold up to repeated plays.

It seems clear long before the game ends who will eventually win.

First-player advantage too high in my opinion.

Played one game so far, and apart from a mistake by the opponent, we just seemed to roll to the end with not much going on.
